Budget Icy Blast – literally!

The cold shower from the Chancellors’ 2013 Budget was mirrored in the weather pattern immediately following Budget Day, with heavy snowfalls and freezing temperatures. The first snow started just two hours before Peter Howard & Co’s annual event, The Budget Breakfast. The decision ‘the show must go on’ was rewarded by a valiant number of attendees who braved the elements to a warm welcome and heartening bacon rolls at Wetherby Golf Club.

Simon was the warm up act – was he trying to draw the Chancellor’s attention to the winter wonderland outside?

 

Jeanette and Justine then presented the Budget headlines and numbers, explaining what they mean for their audience.

As always, the team managed to inject humour as their presentation was interrupted by a series of colourful characters demanding to know what was in it for them!

 

There was young family Mr and Mrs Ardup with baby Grizelda wanting to know how childcare tax relief would work for them

 

Entrepreneur Ivor Lorramoney was most interested in the effect on his business empire.

 

B. Oring-Oldfartz wanted to make sure that pensioners wouldn’t lose out and

 

Oliver Loser roused himself from his beer, ciggies and Daily Star to show a little interest in his saving of 1p a pint from Sunday.
